What is a Poker Run?
A poker run is an organized event using a motorcycle, boat, car or other form of transportation where participants travel over a predesignated route and, at designated stops on the route, draw playing card(s). Specific rules and details vary, depending on the event.

What makes this event different from other charity poker runs?
Daena's Run has been set up by local members of Columbia HOG, Daena's family, and a local charity which has helped out Daena's family and many thousands of other Kids and family members who are struggling with having and raising a child born with a congenital heart defect. Approximately 40,000 babies are born each year in the United States with a Congenital Heart Defect. That equates to 1 out of 125 babies born with a heart defect. And as of right now the cause of heart defects has not yet been determined. However, it is guessed that genetic and environmental factors play a role. With your help groups like Littlehearts can continue to give free support to families and kids born with a congenital heart defect.

We are having a child which has be diagnosed with HLHS what Doctor would you recommend?
We feel picking a doctor is a personal choice, that each family has to make after doing a lot of research, and meeting with doctors and discussing there philosophy on your childs condition and hearing how they propose to treat your child. That being said Daena has seen many Doctors, we been to Connecticut Children’s Medical Center (CCMC), Yale New Haven Children’s Hospital, Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia (CHOP), Boston Children’s Hospital, and the University of Connecticut Medical Center. Daena’s Doctor’s are too many to list here but a couple we would encourage anyone diagnosed with HLHS to consult with are Dr. Jane Newburger MD, Associate Cardiologist-in-Chief Boston Childrens, Dr. Pedro Delnido, Cardiac Surgeon Boston Childrens, and Dr. Harris Leopold MD Director of Cardiology CCMC.

Kool site, who was your web designer?
Daena's Dad worked on the HTML and set up the site while her Mom wrote most of the information, and the story about Daena. Daena picked out the pictures and loves to see herself on the computer. We aren't web designers and only build web sites for fun. If your interested in making your own site and would like some input you can email us at webmaster@daenasrun.com
